Our neat and ultra modern Language Centre is housed in the School of Liberal Arts and Sciences (SOLAS).With a sitting capacity of fifty (50)students, the Centre is equipped with a multi-media computer laboratory (computers have been installed with licensed programs) to facilitate the learning of English at three main levels (i.e. beginner, intermediate and proficiency).
To produce students who can easily integrate into the MIST academic system effectively.
To become a Language Centre of Choice and Excellence.
The MIST Language Centre( MIST-LC) seeks to deal primarily with the internal language needs within the Institute and later provide other individuals and groups who wish to be proficient in English and other modern languages such as French, Arabic and Chinese that space. The centre will aid admitted students into academic programs who are unable to meet a certain level of proficiency in English and act as a bridge between the student’s entry- level language proficiency and the minimum standard required for study in their various departments. This would help students cope with the rigid academic programme better and more effectively. The MIST Language Centre( MIST LC. )will be a teaching unit of excellence dedicated to training students not only in English and modern Languages but other related professional specializations. With the assistance of our competent and well trained technical and academic staff, enrolled students should be proficient enough to confidently sit in the courses of their choice in the various departments without any difficulty after 2 semesters and eventually graduate successfully on schedule.
MIST Language Centre(MIST L-C) would provide various modules for students; more importantly the Centre would combine the Academic English Module with a discipline based English programme( i.e. the technical English Module)so as to give the student a wider exposure
By the end of the course, students should be able to express themselves well verbally and in writing in English or the chosen language studied.
